It’s Thursday, and (deep Vader voice) May the 4th be with you…
Here’s some Wiki history nuggets to get you through the day.
1904 – The United States begins construction of the Panama Canal.
The construction of the Panama Canal took more than a decade and cost nearly $400 million.
(Roughly $8 Billion in today’s cost)

Birthdays –
Special B-Day wishes to my nephew Tucker and Friend Chicken Joe (Brian’s Addition)
1825 – Thomas Henry Huxley, English biologist, anatomist, and academic
Dude was an English biologist and anthropologist who specialized in comparative anatomy.
He has become known as “Darwin’s Bulldog” for his advocacy of Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution.

Everyone knows this dude. He did the “surfer guitar riff”.

Holidays –
Happy Greenery Day in Japan.
A holiday that’s described by wiki
“to commune with nature and be thankful for blessings”
… and has something to do with a controversial wartime emperor’s
love for plants.
International Firefighters’ Day is observed today.
Saint Florian has been regarded in the Catholic Church as teh patron saint of Firefighters and used as as another symbol of International Firefighters’ Day.
The Saint’s day of St. Florian is the 4th of May, and was suggested after an Austrailian wildfire claimed 5 lives of the Geelong West Fire Brigade.
(Garry Vredeveldt, Chris Evans, Stuart Davidson, Jason Thomas, and Matthew Armstrong.)
oh…. one other little thing for today…
AND MMMMMAAAAAAAAAYYYYYY THE FORTH BE WITH YOUUUUUUU !!!
Happy Star Wars day.
In the 1988 episode of Count Duckula called “The Vampire Strikes Back”-
a space-faring superhero named Tremendous Terrance, asks Duckula
the date and is told, “May the Fourth”.
As Terrance departs, he tells all below, “May the Fourth be with you.”
In 2008, the first Facebook groups appeared, celebrating Luke Skywalker Day, with the same catchphrase
Moving to the later years… .the dark times… (after Disney bought the rights)
Several newer Star Wars based shows have been released on May the 4th, including stuff I haven’t seen.
