When we decided to move into a travel trailer the fact you need to get on the roof is unavoidable. When you decided to install a complete solar system, and several other components on the roof you spend a lot of time up there. One way to make life easier is to have a good ladder. I researched several option to use as we hit the road full time in the RV and this is the one I settled on. I also feel this would be a good option for light duty work around a home.
As with everything there are pros and cons. This product checked all the boxes for what I needed where other ladders could not. The biggest factor that sold me on this was how compact it was to store with the ability to safely get me on top of the camper. With the ladder fully extended to 15.5 feet I am able to step off directly on the roof instead of climbing up on to it from the top of a shorter ladder. This a much safer method especially when you need to make frequent trips.
The biggest benefit to this ladder is when I am storing it. it collapses down to under 3.5 feet tall and only a few inches deep. That allows me to store it in several different places, including the bed of the truck or in the under trailer garage. I would not have this flexibility with a normal ladder
There are a few drawbacks to the ladder but if you pay attention and are careful you can likely avoid these issues. 1 drawback is the strap that holds the ladder in the collapsed position tore away very easily on mine. This could have been an individual defect or possibly extra ware and tear from me. I just replaced it with a bungee cord. The other drawback is if you get dirt, grime, sand or even water on the rails of the ladder and it works it way inside, it will become difficult to expand and collapse the ladder. I have always been able to get it to move but if doesn’t take much to get it gummed up.
I think for light inside and outside work at a home this would function fine and be a handy tool to be able to transport in a car if needed.
I would defiantly recommend this ladder for RV use or light home use. Click here to check one out for yourself. Collapsible Ladder on Amazon
