In this post I wanted to give a recommendation and review of Reflectix Bubble Pack Insulation, but also give you a list of uses I have found for this awesome versatile product. When we were on the homestead we always had rolls of this on hand and it was a go to material for tons of projects. As we renovated our RV and moved into it FT Reflectix has remained a staple in our supplies and every day use.
Let’s start with what Reflectix even is. Basically it is bubble wrap with tinfoil backing on either side. What this does is make a great light weight insulation, that is easy to work with. It is not of huge amount of insulation, coming in at an R-2 to R-6 depending on application, but you can layer it or just use when appropriate.
You can cut the stuff with scissors making it very easy to cut to size, it is not itchy like fiberglass bats, flexible and foldable and just all around easy to work with.
A few of the projects I used this for on the homestead:
- DIY Scalder Insulation
- DIY incubator insulation
- Heat/sun block for windows
- Insulated Light Reflectors for starter plant grow lights
- countless more
RV and Current uses:
- Added insulation to the walls of the trailer during remodel
- Pre-cut window inserts for temp regulation
- Window inserts for truck to keep dogs cool
- Floorboard insulation after truck reno
- Cloudy Skylight heat block
