LOTS of History
Prepared by Pip over at Ducktioncups.com If you like the history segment SHOW THEM SOME LOVE Website FB TikTok
June 2
Hello you Oxygen addicts and welcome to Friday.
The current-ish price of Bitcoin is $27,083
Today on LOTS of history…..
- 1763 – Pontiac’s Rebellion: At what is now Mackinaw City, Michigan, Ojibwe’s
capture Fort Michilimackinac by diverting the garrison’s attention with a game of lacrosse,
then chasing a ball into the fort.
As part of the larger conflict known as Pontiac’s War, a group of Ojibwe staged a game of
baaga’adowe (a forerunner of modern lacrosse) outside the fort as a ruse to gain entrance.
After entering the fort, they killed most of the British inhabitants.
Pip’s notes- hahahahahhahahahahahahaaaaaa! The troops fell for it!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fort_Michilimackinac
- 1835 – P. T. Barnum and his circus start their first tour of the United States.
He was also an author, publisher, and philanthropist, though he said of himself:
“I am a showman by profession … and all the gilding shall make nothing else of me.”
According to his critics, his personal aim was “to put money in his own coffers”.
He is widely credited with coining the adage “There’s a sucker born every minute”,
although no evidence has been collected of him saying this.
Pip’s notes- Kids today will never hear “welcome to the 3-ring circus”

- 1924 – U.S. President Calvin Coolidge signs the Indian Citizenship Act into law,
granting citizenship to all Native Americans born within the territorial limits of the United States.
an Act of the United States Congress that granted US citizenship to the indigenous peoples
of the United States. While the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution
defines a citizen as any persons born in the United States and subject to its laws and jurisdiction,
the amendment had previously been interpreted by the courts not to apply to Native peoples
Pip’s notes- Yes, I’m glad to see the people that were born here are ‘citizens’, now.
How kind of them to allow it… (attempted sarcasm)

- 1966 – Surveyor program: Surveyor 1 lands in Oceanus Procellarum on the Moon,
becoming the first U.S. spacecraft to soft-land on another world.
This lunar soft-lander gathered data about the lunar surface that would be
needed for the crewed Apollo Moon landings that began in 1969. The successful
soft landing of Surveyor 1 on the Ocean of Storms was the first by an American
space probe on any extraterrestrial body, occurring on the first attempt and just
four months after the first soft Moon landing by the Soviet Union’s Luna 9 probe.

Happy Birthdays
- 1840 – Thomas Hardy, English novelist and poet (d. 1928)
While Hardy wrote poetry throughout his life and regarded himself
primarily as a poet, his first collection was not published until 1898.

- 1936 – Volodymyr Holubnychy, Ukrainian race walker (d. 2021)
This lunar soft-lander gathered data about the lunar surface that would be
needed for the crewed Apollo Moon landings that began in 1969. The successful

- 1972 – Wayne Brady, American actor, comedian, game show host, and singer
I’m just going to suggest to watch “Who’s Line Is It Anyway?”,
then go buy some Ducktion Cups. In that order.

- 1982 – Jewel Staite, Canadian actress
Many different TV shows & movies, and known for
Firefly, Stargate Atlantis, and a few others.
Pip’s notes- Bring back the tv show Firefly!
Pip’s side notes- Anyone remember Animaniacs?…. ‘Heeellllllloooo Nurse!!!!’..
(clears throat) Apologies, had to be done…. Anyway…

Passings
- 1970 – Bruce McLaren, New Zealand race car driver and engineer,
founded the McLaren racing team (b. 1937)
Bruce McLaren died aged 32 when his Can-Am car crashed on the
Lavant Straight just before Woodcote corner at Goodwood Circuit in
England on 2 June 1970. He had been testing his new McLaren M8D
when the rear bodywork came adrift at speed. The loss of aerodynamic
downforce destabilised the car, which spun, left the track,
and hit a bunker used as a flag station.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bruce_McLaren
- 2012 – Richard Dawson, English-American soldier, actor,
television personality, and game show host (b. 1932)
Dawson was well known for playing Corporal Peter Newkirk in Hogan’s Heroes,
as a regular panelist on Match Game (1973–1978), and as the original
and third host of Family Feud (1976–1985, 1994–95)
Pip’s notes – young, sick Pip was usually shipped off to
Grandma’s house for couch-detail & game shows.

Holidays
- International Sex Workers Day
Celebrated annually since 1976, honours sex workers and recognises their often
exploited working conditions. The event commemorates the occupation of Église
Saint-Nizier in Lyon by more than a hundred sex workers on June 2, 1975 to draw
attention to their inhumane working conditions.
In German, it is known as Hurentag (Whore’s Day).
In Spanish-speaking countries, it is the Día Internacional de la Trabajadora Sexual,
the International Day of the Sex Worker.
Pip’s notes- Woah, wait… Wiki is telling me that humans have only now
started respecting the world’s oldest profession?!
You could pay for sex & they leave after, pay or dates & relationships for sex.
Either way, you’re payin’.
……….Unless there’s a rapist. In that case I would consider
shish kabobing them with a forklift.
