The LOTS Project Morning Show Ep. 833

Storm Shelter RV Life & Weather Chaos | LOTS Ep 833

Coffee in hand, reflecting on the chaos—just another week of RV living unpredictability.

Episode 833 of The LOTS Project Morning Show wasn’t just another cup of coffee and catch-up. It was a wild ride through tornados, flooding, storm shelter drama, and some upcoming gear reviews I’m pretty excited about. Whether you’re tuning in from your cozy homestead or your mobile RV command center, this one’s packed with personal reflections, product teasers, and a few laughs about Amazon’s weird new take on livestreaming.

Here’s the full recap and deeper dive from the episode.

Tornados, Thunderstorms & RV Life: The Weather’s Been Wild

If you’ve been anywhere near the Midwest lately, you already know—Mother Nature isn’t playing games.

Over the last week, we’ve seen tornados touch down close to home, roads vanish under flash floods, and skies that looked like something out of a disaster movie. Living in an RV full-time makes severe weather especially intense. Unlike a stick-and-brick home, there’s no basement to run to or solid structure to hunker down in.

The constant weather alerts have become background noise—until they aren’t. There’s a real mental load that comes with evaluating every storm: Do I stay? Do I move? Where is the nearest shelter? Will there even be space when I get there?

This week’s chaos really hammered home the importance of having a storm plan that’s more than just “hope it misses us.” Which leads me to the next topic…

Shelter in the Storm: What We’re Doing & What Needs to Change

We don’t currently have a permanent storm shelter solution—and in situations like this, that fact becomes painfully obvious. Public storm shelters aren’t an option for us because we won’t leave our dogs behind, and they’re not allowed inside. That alone takes them off the table for us.

The “public shelter drama” I talked about came from local news reports and social media chatter over the past week. The stories weren’t about the weather itself—but about locked doors, unclear procedures, shelters being over capacity, and the ever-present noise from keyboard warriors arguing whether public shelters should even exist. It’s disheartening to see people debating basic safety in the middle of severe storm season.

At this point, we’re pretty much settled on installing a prefab storm shelter. There’s still a slim possibility we’ll go the DIY route and build something that doubles as a root cellar, but prefab seems like the most realistic and reliable solution for our timeline and needs.

Until then, we’re staying mobile and staying prepared. If you’re in RV living mode like us—or even if you’re stationary—it’s worth having your shelter plan squared away before the radar lights up.

On the Horizon: Gear Reviews Coming Soon

Here’s a Product Review sneak peek:

🔨 Mistmo 10×12 Outdoor Shed

This shed has been standing strong for almost a year on our RV property. Solid frame, great for gear storage, and surprisingly weather-resistant. I’ll cover the setup, pros, cons, and why I’d recommend this larger size over smaller sheds they offer. Buy On Amazon

⚙️ Dewalt Electric Chainsaw

Portable, battery-powered, and perfect for storm cleanup or RV maintenance. I have been putting this thing to the test—limb clearing, wood prep, maybe even a chainsaw-art attempt if the mood strikes. Stay tuned. Buy On Amazon

🚗 Pruveeo Dashcam

As full-time travelers, a dashcam is a must. But finding one that’s reliable and easy to install? That’s the trick. So far, this one is impressive out of the box. I plan to install it this week, so I’ll have footage, setup tips, and real-use impressions soon. Buy On Amazon

Whether you’re prepping, traveling, or just into gear talk, these reviews are for you. No fluff, just real feedback from real-world use.

Amazon Live Channels: ESPN OCHO, Spike Ball, and the Price of Utter Nonsense

I recently stumbled into ESPN OCHO—the deepest corners of Amazon’s new live channel experiment. I mean, Spike Ball tournaments, the 2017 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest, and all kinds of wild niche programming stacked up like it was prime-time entertainment. And yeah—I watched. You kind of have to, right?

Then I flipped over to the game show channel, and that’s when it got even better (or worse, depending on your mood). “The Price is Right” reruns had me questioning my entire grasp of reality—I had absolutely no clue what anything costs anymore. I found myself yelling at the TV like a boomer at a football game.

It’s one of those Amazon rabbit holes you don’t mean to fall into—but when you do, it’s weirdly compelling. Pointless? Maybe. But also kind of genius in how it keeps people engaged and inside Amazon’s ecosystem. Whether it’s a distraction or a new promotional frontier, it’s worth keeping an eye on.
