Another Week, Another Adventure: Episode 836 of The LOTS Project Morning Show
Good morning, friends of freedom and strong coffee! Episode 836 of The LOTS Project Morning Show is in the books, and it was a packed one. We covered the never-ending saga of truck troubles, celebrated a much-needed camper repair victory, previewed a fun project coming up with Kori, and looked ahead to some exciting cabin progress in the form of getting materials ordered and scheduled. As always, the coffee was strong — a beautiful Ethiopian Yirgacheffe Light Roast from FoodForestFarms.com, one of my favorite go-to brews.
If you missed the live stream or just want a quick breakdown with a few extra reflections thrown in, you’re in the right place. Let’s get into it.
More Truck Issues: When Will It End?
Owning a vehicle is a lot like owning a house — it’s never “done,” and problems always seem to show up when you least expect (or want) them.
This week, the truck decided to throw another wrench into the plan. It’s frustrating, sure, but if there’s one thing living this lifestyle has taught me, it’s that flexibility and patience are mandatory. When you’re relying on your truck for everyday life — from hauling gear to getting out to your off-grid projects — even small issues become big fast.
The bright side? Every breakdown, every issue is another opportunity to learn more about the machine that’s so critical to my daily life. It’s also another reminder that preventative maintenance is worth its weight in gold. Stay tuned—I’ll either get this thing fully dialed in soon or I’ll be announcing a new truck fund!
Reflection: Mechanical issues are inevitable, but how you respond to them determines whether they’re merely setbacks or stepping stones. Grit and gratitude go a long way when things aren’t going your way.
A Win with Camper Repairs: Sometimes You Get One!
After weeks of minor frustrations and to-do lists getting longer, it felt incredible to notch a “win” on the camper repair front. This week, I tackled a repair project that’s been lurking in the background for a while — and it actually went better than expected.
No major surprises, no parts lost in shipping purgatory, no YouTube rabbit holes just to figure out how to reach a hidden bolt. Just straightforward, satisfying progress.
It’s funny how these small victories feel ten times bigger when you’re living close to the land and relying on your equipment every day. Having the camper in top shape isn’t just a convenience — it’s the difference between feeling “at home” and feeling “in survival mode.”
Reflection: Celebrating the small wins is essential. Life off the beaten path has enough daily challenges — you’ve got to take the victories where you find them.

A Fun Project with Kori: Excited to Get Started
One of the things I’m most excited about this week is an upcoming project that Kori and I are planning to tackle together. Sometimes it’s easy to get caught up in the endless list of chores and maintenance tasks, but setting aside time for a creative project like this reminds me why I chose this life.
We’re planning to build something that’s not only useful but will also add a little more character to our setup. I’m looking forward to working side by side and creating something we can both be proud of.
Reflection: Your projects don’t always have to be “productive” in the traditional sense. Sometimes the value is in the laughter, the teamwork, and the memories made along the way.
Cabin Progress This Coming Week: Getting on the Schedule
Looking ahead, the big focus for cabin progress this week will be getting a deposit down for materials. Also getting a spot on the builders schedule to set our posts and roof.
It’s a major milestone that’s been a long time coming. Getting on the builder’s calendar means things are about to get very real — and that this project is finally moving beyond just dreams and sketches.
Of course, there will still be plenty of work to do afterward, but this step sets the whole process in motion. It’s both exciting and a little nerve-wracking, but that’s the nature of big projects.
Reflection: Big dreams are built one small step at a time. Cabin progress may be slow some weeks, but every bit counts — especially when you’re building something that will stand for years to come.
