After months of dealing with intermittent leaks and a sagging slide floor, it finally gave out. What started as a few drips turned into bowed, waterlogged plywood that flexed under our feet—and the dogs weren’t helping matters.
Here’s what we did:
- Removed all flooring and assessed the damage
- Replaced the base with pressure-treated ¾” plywood
- Skinned the top with ¼” sanded ply for added stability
- Secured everything using Simpson strap plates and creative hardware hacks
- Avoided removing the entire slide by using internal access (uncommon!)
Lesson learned: If you’ve got basic tools and some grit, RV floor repair is totally doable—even for first-timers.
