This morning, I sat down with a hot cup of Brian’s Blend from Food Forest Farms and shared a packed episode of The LOTS Project Morning Show. Episode 843 took us from a hands-on bushcraft food forest project to reflections on national protests, local woodworking wins, and geopolitical upheaval.

Bushcraft Food Forest Project

This week, I tackled a new bushcraft food forest project that had me revisiting some skills I’ve long wanted to try. After discovering purple passionflower vines tangled up in one of our young blueberry bushes, I knew I had to act fast. These vines aren’t just beautiful—they’re edible and medicinal—but they were threatening the life of a new productive plant.

Rather than pulling the vines, I built a simple tripod trellis from salvaged branches and paracord. It was a quick project, inspired by bushcraft techniques I’ve admired for years. The results were solid, and the vines responded well. I shared a video of the process on our YouTube channel for anyone who wants to replicate it.

The real surprise came after the project was done. I took a walk past the planted section of the food forest into areas we haven’t yet cultivated, and I was blown away—dozens more passionflower vines, American beautyberry bushes, mayapples, and mullen were thriving naturally. That’s the magic of disturbing compacted land and letting sunlight in.

K&B Kustom Built – Customer Wins & New Projects

Over at K&B Kustom Built, we had our first local sale—a children’s picnic table that’s now waiting for a grandkid to grow into it. The customer loved the durability, finish, and feel of the piece. That table is now back on the workbench with two more in the pipeline, including one for Kori’s family.

To streamline production, I’m building a jig to help with symmetry and faster assembly. We’re also working on new items like a slatted bench and a yard-sized Jenga set. Our first batch of yard dice didn’t meet our standards, but we’re weighing whether to invest in a drill press or go all-in on a laser engraver. Either way, we’re not putting out a product that doesn’t meet our expectations.

Meanwhile, the K&B website is nearly ready. Listings are the last tedious step—especially with varying sizes, weights, and shipping needs—but it’ll be a central hub for online orders, local pickup, and eventual delivery options.

News Segment – No Kings, Bombs, and Political Chaos

It’s been a hell of a news week. I try to stay emotionally detached from the 24-hour outrage cycle, but some things still cut through.

First, the so-called “No Kings” protests. Reports claim over 5 million people gathered in 2,000 locations to protest President Trump and a birthday military parade. But in our small Tennessee town? Maybe 8 people showed up. I wish I could’ve caught them on camera for a man-on-the-street moment because I still don’t fully understand what they were protesting.

In Minnesota, things turned deadly. A politically motivated shooter impersonated law enforcement and killed State Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband. He later wounded State Sen. John Hoffman and his wife before being captured after a two-day manhunt. He left behind a manifesto and flyers linking him to the No Kings movement. The whole story feels… off.

And then there’s the Israel–Iran conflict, which has escalated quickly. Missiles, airstrikes, proxy attacks from Yemen—it’s spiraling. Crude oil jumped 17%, and once again, the U.S. is saber-rattling while pretending to stay neutral. If only we could focus on our own mess here at home.

Weekend Movie Reviews: The Accountant & The Accountant 2

To escape the madness, Kori and I watched The Accountant and its sequel. Ben Affleck plays a math savant with autism who doubles as an elite hitman. The first movie was surprisingly solid—action-packed, a little mysterious, and sprinkled with dry humor.

The second one? Not bad either, but it leaned heavier into the shoot-‘em-up action. Jon Bernthal gets more screen time as Affleck’s brother, and while it doesn’t reinvent the wheel, it’s worth a watch if you like tight, gritty thrillers with a twist.

Bitcoin, Cash App, and Hardware Wallet Updates

Bitcoin has been hovering between $100K and $110K, reacting to geopolitical tension like usual. The Blockstream app got a major update. It now shows balances even if your hardware wallet isn’t connected—just know it’s still secure and nothing can be sent without your device.

Want to get started with Bitcoin easily? Cash App is running a promo:
Sign up with my link https://cash.app/app/F48C2Q5 or use code F48C2Q5, send $5, and you’ll receive a bonus—and maybe even some Bitcoin. The deal runs through the end of June.

Final Thoughts

Between the bushcraft win, productive news rants, and forward momentum with K&B, it’s shaping up to be a hot and heavy week. Rain’s been nonstop, the grass never quits, and Delinquents Gully is exploding with new growth. We’re staying busy, staying ready, and staying real.

Until next time, keep pushing, stay curious, and don’t forget—life’s too short for shitty coffee.
